ribbon roses

Oh my I am so sorry I didn't realise it was over a month since my last tutorial been so busy with this & that well it's a long time coming then lately I have been making my own ribbon roses and have had a lot of compliments about them so I thought I would show how to do them I found the idea in a papercraft inspiration mag but the instructions weren't very clear and those of you who have got to know me or getting to know me will know I am not the brightest bulb in the box lolbut I did mange to figure it out and the good thing about it is there is little or no sewing at all you can either put a couple of stitches through the ribbon at the end which I will show or add some glue so here we go

take a length of ribbon the size is up to you and so is the width I have done this rose with some wide ribbon and it looks just as good also organsa ribbon works really well

fold the length in half

then bring the top length down to form a right angle as in pic

then bring the botton length over this towards you

now the length at the side goes across to the other side
Like this

then you take the bottom pice and take up to top like above
keep doing this until you get to the end

so now you are left with 2 small amounts of ribbon unfolded take the 2 ends and let the folded length loose

still holding the 2 short ends take one of them in your other hand and start to pull

you will see it start to pucker up and take on the form of the rose as you go carry on til you get to the end and are happy with the rose

now take the 2 straight lenths and tie them in a single knot I have to use my teeth to help do this as you need to hold the rose as well as the ends but that is the hardest part

so now you have a small knot at the back of the rosenow this is the stage where you can either sew it or glue it in place I choose to sew as it really is only 2/3 stitches

take you needle and thread and go through the petal closest to the knot and then through the knot itself then take it back through the knot and then the petal

then go to the othetr side of the knot and do the samd with a stitch through the knot and petal then tie off now all you need to do is cut off the excess lengths

and that is how you make the roses

I do hope this helps and you can follow the instruction ok and have a go and let me know how you get on

Flip Flap

Hello again I was looking through my card making bible (this is a big folder I have with instructions on how to make different cards) and thought it was about time I started making different shaped cards again as I haven't done them for a while so I decided on what I called a flip flap card couldn't think of anything else to call it and I think you will understand when you see it.
So it's done in my usual form of piccies and then instruction so hope you find it easy to follow it's quite an easy card but looks very effective so here goes

for this you will need the following
1x A4 sheet of card folded in half to make an A5 card blank(Very important when you have done this set it aside and leave til the end)
1x A5 piece of card single (not folded )
1x slim DL card blank  21cm x 7.5 cm
1x square card blank 12.5cm x 12.5cm
as in pic above
you also need DP's for all of these  now for the DL and square card I made 2 of each of the DP's 1 for the outside and 1 for inside it will come clear as we go on
you also need a selection of toppers (for this particular card I used Debbi Moore CD Bella's secret garden I printed off 1 normal topper from a design sheet which is tghe long one then I went to the sillhouette section and printed the digi and sillhouette also fromthe design sheet I printed off the verse then I printed the flower embellishments )Backed them all with some black card for a mat
and coloured in the digi then then I attatched the square and DL card to the back of the A5 piece and matted with DP'S (I won't bore you with pics of this as you all know how to do it)
this is the inside of your card so you attatch the back piece of the cards (the piece you usually write on)and then matt the front of them the same so the front of your card should look like the pic above of couse you can arrange the two cards any way you wish there is no rule
Now start adding you toppers the digi to the front square and the coloured printed topper to the DL
and don't forget the ones for the inside I put the sillhoutte on the reverse if the digi and the verse on the A5 card then also added the sentiment and embellishments to even it outleaving the inside of the DL plain you can decorate if you wish as I said no rules right now
Remember the A5 card blank we made at the begining well you can get it now place infront of you making sure it opens the right way (lol you would be suprised) then attach the piece with all your topper on to it
and volia job done now to see the finished card pop over to my main blog for pics here

Cup cake carnations

I know I said I would put this tutorial on tomorrow but I thought I would do it tonight so here goes it's done in my usual photo fashion
take 6 cup cake cases

fold 5 ofb them in half leaving one as it is

take 1 of the cases that you have folded in half and cut down the middle so you have 2 quarters

with this piece roll fold the plain bottom piece up to the middlethen roll from end to end

Now take your other pieces again fold the flat piece up to centre and one at a time glueing the bottom and side wrap them around your middle piece

I have found that is is better start your next one where your last one finished that way you get an even look to it

carry on til you have all your half pieces glued together now take your whole cup cake case and fill the bottom with a good layer of glue
add your rolls to the middle of the open one making sure it is stuck good then pick it up and give a good squeeze and adjust the outer pieces to make them look more like petals you can do this again when it's dry

and there you have them now to add to a card depending on the depth you want you will have to cut some of the bottom off this is fine as you have glued along the sides aswell so it's stuck together add to card and adjust to suit to see finished card check my main blog here
Hope you like this see you soon

Triple Easel

well hello again I am sorry it has taken so long to get my nexy tutorial on but fear not here it is I am so pleased with how it turned out it's better than I'd hoped and yes it's the first time I have made it lolso are you ready
For this you will need

A4 card stock some backing papers mats and toppers and of course the good old DSTT

Take your A4 card and fold in half length way

Then measure from one end 21cm and cut off excess

Now measure in from one end again at 7cm and 14cm draw a line down and then cut up to the centre fold

Now take your centre piece and fold in half to the centre fold again

then folg your outer pieces so the long edge lies across the centre fold and then cut off the excess

so your card should look like this
now mat your papers onto the bottom section and add tape to the 3 top sections then mat your toppers onto card and attatch to these

then just fold the creases at the back of your toppers to make sure they stay down and add a sentiment to the middle of the bottom section and hey presto

there you have your triple easel, to see finished card just  pop over to my main blog here
